I’m not sure if National Aeronautics and Space Administration has put these up on eBay yet, but two space shuttles are currently for sale for a reported $28.8 million. The space shuttle program, active since 1981, is being moth-balled this year and NASA is clearing out the garage to make room for the next generation of space vehicles.

The New York Times reports:

The Discovery is already promised to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The Atlantis and the Endeavour are up for grabs. It is possible that the Enterprise, a shuttle prototype that never made it to space, will also be available. The Enterprise is currently at the Smithsonian.

For the record, the space shuttle main engines are currently available at no charge.
